Job description

Our Certified ScrumMasters are responsible for developing high functioning, super efficient, self-organizing teams who consistently deliver the best results when building and maintaining our online learning platform, apps, programs, and supplemental product sites. These are fun and fast-paced teams, always aiming to use the newest and most effective technologies in the industry. The ideal candidate should be well rounded in supporting software development teams with Scrum and agile methods through the entire software lifecycle.


What you will do:

  • Support each team through the complete software development lifecycle using the Agile Scrum Methodology.

  • Help team members to create effective User Stories, write acceptance criteria to know when a story is Done, and break down stories into sub-tasks.

  • Help each team use Epics, time-boxed (spike) stories, and sprint goals effectively.

  • Support each Product Owner to refine and prioritize their Backlog and Epics in alignment with business goals.

  • Schedule/facilitate Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective meetings.

  • Ensure that the highest priority items identified in the Sprint Retrospective are appropriately addressed.

  • Work with the teams and business to remove impediments and blockers.

  • Encourage radical transparency. Foster ever-improving intra- and inter-team dynamics.

  • Use agile metrics judiciously. Encourage team excellence.

  • Schedule/facilitate Sprint Retrospective meetings..

  • Maintain an open dialog with the Product Owners and team members through recurring one-on-one meetings.

  • Work closely with other ScrumMasters and our tool administrators (Jira, Zendesk, etc).


What you will need:

  • Certification as a ScrumMaster from an accredited institution.

  • 2-5 years experience as a part of Scrum development teams.

  • At least one software development project of medium/high complexity in the ScrumMaster role.

  • Ability to communicate to a wide variety of audiences, both business and technical.

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain process documentation.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

  • Demonstrated strong collaboration, facilitation, negotiation, and diagnostic skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
